Title or Location: Long Beach, Ucluelet, BC
My wife and I had gone camping in the Ucluelet BC earlier this May. The beach was massive it almost looked like a dessert from all the sand dunes forming on the beach. The wave patterns in the sand and the harsh orange light from the sunset created silhouettes on my subject.

We can walk out our front door and straight through the backyard to go hiking in the backcountry. It's a 12km hike to Shields Lake, and it's worth it! It was a beautiful evening when those rays of light came through.

It's tough at this time of year to find good light. I start work early, and then need to make dinner and clean up after dinner. By the time I get outside in mid-May, the light is already waning, turning a bit blu-ish, particularly in the shadows. This time however I managed to find just the right light.

Title or Location: Arches National Park-Moab Utah
Arches is considered a dark sanctuary meaning using light painting is not allowed. I went to do Astro Photography in June of 2021. This was taken approximately 2am when the Milky Way rose to the center of the arch. While it is a dark sanctuary, someone was hiking on the other side with a headlamp giving me just a touch of light painting to outline the arch. I held the wide angle lens open approximately 13-seconds, ISO 1600.
